Free Winter Heat- almost

We have seen some roads washed out with the summer rains as the ground that burned in last year's fire just cannot hold the moisture any longer. Some tourist were caught behind a washed out road up on Hunter Lake road and had to wait for road crews to repair the road before they could come to town. Lucky the crews were already up there or they might have had to spend the night and walk out for help.

Wayne led 18 hikers into Lost Lake today, following a trail that he & Linda had flagged earlier so we didn't have to search for the right trail.  We had some guests with us that had a little trouble making it all the way but they made it!!  Lost Lake had the smallest pool of water I have ever seen in it; perhaps it has sprung a leak.....

We had a great day for a hike, soft breezes, cloudy skies and open country.  My intention was to take the group into Model T park using the old logging road which was cleared after the fire in 2002; however, I missed my turnoff point and we ended up clear up on top (thought it was a tougher hike than before) in another park!

Hiking with Dennis

Dennis takes us all on a hike today with his great pictures and story.

Wayne led 15 of us up the Middle Alder Cr.  trail; a couple went about 2 miles, 8 went 2.5 miles and 5 went 3.2 miles to an  old cabin for lunch.  The 2.5 mile mark was the designated lunch  stop.....before the creek became the only trail to use.  The creek was the  only trail for about a quarter of a mile.  When we reached the cabin we had  crossed the same creek 13 times!
