Today dawned cold and rainy and I stayed in this morning rather than fight the wet conditions. The deer tend to hole up during wet weather anyway and its a wild goose chase at best.
One thing to learn is WHEN to hunt. There are days that are better than others and if you watch the moon phases and solunar tables, you can maximize your time afield. I have seen deer feeding in the middle of the day when the tables are predicting that and nothing at daylight or dark so it does work.
THe same goes for fishing. There is no used being out there if they are not biting well. Best to get your chores done, save gas and energy for the days when it pays off the most.
Try following the farmers almanac or solunar tables for awhile and see if your odds don't improve.
